Culture Night 2011 Friday 23rd September

Following last year’s tremendous success, the magical Loinnir, Gaeltacht atrists’ collective An Cosán Glas trail of temporary, illuminated sculptural works, returns to Letterkenny Town Park for Culture Night 2011.

Loinnir Sculpture Trail 2011 - One Night Only

This year we had planned another spectacular weekend of illuminated sculptures for the beach at Magheraroarty in North West Donegal. The first night was successful but we unfortunately had to cancel the second night due to stormy weather.

An Cosan Glas in Italy June 2011

An Cosan Glas travelled to Italy this weekend where they held workshops with young children and exhibited the sculptures from the various artists involved in An Cosan Glas over the years.

Loinnir Sculpture Trail 2011

This year we plan another spectacular weekend of illuminated sculptures for the beach at Magheroarty in North West Donegal as part of Earagail Arts Festival.

Culture Night 2010

Each of the 14 artists taking part this year were commissioned to create two illuminated sculptures for Loinnir that formed part of the Earagail Arts Festival in July. The work of over 40 children who attended the very successful ‘Cois Fharraige’ art and sculpture workshops will also be on display together with video footage from the workshops.

As the evening light fades and darkness descends, the illuminated sculptures slowly come to life. The surroundings of the town park provide a perfect setting for these inspiring works of art which are placed along the paths and in the secret garden.
